Seattle to Ketchikan
All direct flights to Ketchikan originate from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington State. Alaska Airlines is the only carrier currently providing jet service to Ketchikan. During the summer at least 4 non-stop flights arrive daily in Ketchikan from Seattle, starting early in the morning through late afternoon, so further connections to the Island are convenient.
Ketchikan to Craig via Island Air Express at the Klawock Airport, float plane to Craig or Inter-Island Ferry in to Hollis
Island Air Express is the fastest, most frequent and best economic option for getting to Prince of Wales Island. For both safety and reliability, Island Air Express boasts 9 passenger Caravan aircraft with full instrument ratings allowing for flight in visibility conditions other air carriers cannot. Their special lodge visitor rates include 50 lbs of luggage and 100 lbs of guaranteed fish box transportation back to the Ketchikan airport and any freezer service needed while your fish is at the airport. Their ability to provide reliable scheduled seat fare pricing and fish box transportation makes this our favorite choice. Lodge guest special rates can only be reserved through Stacie, Guest Services, at the lodge office. Reserving yourself online has some problematic disadvantages.
Other air carriers and the Inter-Island Ferry options used by many that frequent POW island. Float planes are available by charter and also with Taquan Air. This can be an amazing experience however these flights are significantly more expensive and much less reliable if weather becomes an issue. Your return flight may require an additional plane to accommodate the fish box weight and volume you’ve gained while fishing with us. The Inter-Island Ferry departs Ketchikan at 3 pm each day and docks in Hollis at 6 pm approximately 35 miles from Craig. Under special circumstances we can accommodate a ferry arrival or departure however, in most situations we will be meeting Island Air Express at the same time making this not possible. The 2 hour round trip drive is also a difficulty for our logistics team.
For all of your travel and logistics needs, Stacie is available to help you get set up for smooth travel days and the safe arrival of you and your fish back home.
